How to Prep for Your First Brazilian Wax Without Freaking Out!
If you’re thinking about getting your first Brazilian wax, you’re probably feeling a mix of curiosity, excitement… and a little panic. Totally normal. The good news? With the right prep, your appointment can be way less scary.. and dare I say, kind of empowering.
- Let it grow (at least 1/4 of an inch long about a size of a grain of rice).
For the wax to grip properly, you’ll want at least 2–3 weeks of growth. Too short, and it’ll hurt more. Too long, and it’s just… unnecessary. That sweet spot makes the whole experience easier. - Skip the coffee beforehand.
I know, I know, but caffeine can make you more sensitive. If you can, hold off until after your appointment. Your nerves (and skin) will thank you. - Exfoliate the night before.
A gentle exfoliation helps lift dead skin and prevents ingrowns later. Don’t scrub aggressively, just a light buff with a mild exfoliant is perfect. - Wear comfy clothing.
Think loose, breathable, and soft. Tight leggings right after a wax? Not your best friend. - Take a pain reliever if you’re nervous.
About 30 minutes before your appointment, you can take something like ibuprofen if you choose. It helps reduce discomfort and inflammation. - Trust your esthetician.
A good esthetician has seen it all..literally. You don’t need to apologize, explain, or feel embarrassed. Their job is to make you feel safe, supported, and smooth. - Breathe. Seriously.
The first few pulls are a bit uncomfortable but then your body adjusts. Slow, steady breathing helps more than you’d think.
